2019: Felipe made 18 appearances (13 starts) for the Whitecaps before being acquired by D.C. United in exchange for Targeted Allocation Money (TAM) and an International Roster Spot on Aug. 7. Just days after arriving in the District, Felipe was named in the starting lineup and helped United to a 2-1 victory over the LA Galaxy on Aug. 11. Felipe proved to be a valuable acquisition to the midfield as the Brazilian went on to start the remaining eight games of the season and helped the Black-and- Red finish on a strong note with a club record five consecutive clean sheets. The 29-year-old recorded his first assist for United in the 3-0 victory over Montreal on Aug. 31.
2018 (Vancouver): Following three successful seasons with the New York Red Bulls, Felipe returned to Canada, only this time with the Vancouver Whitecaps. The midfielder made his debut for the Whitecaps as a substitute on March 4 during a 2-1 victory over his former team, the Montreal Impact. Felipe recorded his first assist for Vancouver in a 2-1 victory over the Columbus Crew on March 31. His first goal for the Canadian club came in a 4-1 loss against Sporting Kansas City on Oct. 17. Felipe finished the season with one goal and seven assists in 29 appearances (24 starts.)
2017 (Red Bulls): In his third season with the Red Bulls, Felipe once again made 33 appearances (33 starts). The midfielder had his best season defensively as he led the team with 83 tackles. While the Red Bulls form did not reach the heights it had in the two previous seasons, Felipe’s presence in the midfield remained a constant. The Brazilian recorded two goals, five assists, and created 29 chances. The Red Bulls finished the season in sixth place in the Eastern Conference.
2016 (Red Bulls): In his second season with New York, Felipe was a mainstay in the starting lineup. The midfielder made 33 appearances (33 starts) and helped the Red Bulls to their second consecutive first place finish in the Eastern Conference. Felipe tied his career-high with five goals while recording seven assists in the process. During the 4-3 victory over the Houston Dynamo on March 19, Felipe recorded his first career multi-goal game in MLS.
2015 (Red Bulls): Following the 2014 season, Felipe was acquired by the New York Red Bulls where he solidified his role as the first choice central midfielder. In 2015, Felipe started every game for the Red Bulls and recorded three goals and five assists. His first goal for the Red Bulls came in the 1-1 draw against the LA Galaxy on April 26. During his first season with the Red Bulls, Felipe created 60 chances and helped them to a MLS Supporters’ Shield and a first place finish in the Eastern Conference. He once again was a force defensively in the midfield as he finished the season with 57 tackles.
2014 (Montreal): Felipe continued to be a key player for the Impact in his third season. The midfielder recorded three goals and six assists in 31 appearances (28 starts) for the Canadian side. Felipe showed off his playmaking ability with 35 chances created and a passing accuracy of 80%. The Brazilian improved his defensive work rate as he recorded 29 tackles in the middle of the park for Montreal. He helped the Impact win the Canadian Championship.
2013 (Montreal): During his second season in MLS, Felipe picked up where he left off in his debut season. The midfielders passing ability was once again on full display as he recorded the second most chances created on the Impact with 41. Felipe recorded his second career multi-assist game during the 5-0 victory over the Houston Dynamo on Aug. 24. Felipe finished the season with eight assists to go along with a career-high five goals in 32 appearances (28 starts). His performances helped propel Montreal into the playoffs with a fifth place finish.
2012 (Montreal): Felipe began his MLS career in 2012 with the Montreal Impact. The Brazilian immediately made an impact for Montreal as he led the team with 58 chances created in 30 appearances (30 starts). Felipe scored his first goal in MLS during the 2-0 victory over Sporting Kansas City on May 5. In the 4-2 victory over the Houston Dynamo on June 23, Felipe recorded his first multi-assist game in MLS. Felipe finished the season with a career high ten assists and also recorded four goals in the process, but was unable to get Montreal into the playoffs.
Previous Experience
Felipe began his professional career in 2008 in the Italian third tier with Calcio Padova. After making just five appearances in Italy, the Brazilian made the switch to FC Lugano in Switzerland’s first tier in 2009. After spending time on loan in the lower divisions in Switzerland, Felipe broke through to the first team. With FC Lugano, Felipe made 57 appearances recording eight goals.
