MLS Experience

2018: After an impressive first season in MLS competition, Yamil Asad joined D.C. United from Eastern Conference rivals Atlanta United prior to the 2018 season.  The Argentine midfielder immediately inserted himself into the starting lineup due to his ability to beat opponents off the dribble and provide service for the strikers.  During his debut for the Black-and-Red, Asad scored his first goal for the club to help United secure a 1-1 draw against Orlando City SC on March 3.  During the 2-2 draw against Houston on March 17, Asad recorded his first assist for the club.  The 26-year-old recorded his second career multi-goal game in MLS during the 4-4 draw against Toronto on June 13.  In D.C. United's next match, Asad followed up that impressive match with another two goal performance during the a 3-2 loss against New England on June 30.  In his first season with the Black-and-Red, Asad helped United reach the playoffs and finished with nine goals and eight assists in 30 appearances.

2017: [Atlanta United] - During his first season in MLS, Yamil Asad made 32 appearances (31 starts) for new MLS franchise Atlanta United.  On his debut, Asad scored the first ever goal for Atlanta United during a 2-1 loss to the New York Red Bulls on March 5.  Asad's first assist came in the next match as he helped Atlanta defeat Minnesota 6-1 March 12.  The midfielder helped Atlanta reach the playoffs with a 15-9-10 record during their inaugural season, though Atlanta were defeated in the first round by the Columbus Crew.  Asad finished the season with seven goals and a team-high 13 assists. 

Previous Experience

Yamil Asad rose through the academy of Club Atlético Vélez Sarsfield in the Argentinian first tier.  Asad made his senior debut coming off the bench as a substitute during a 2-2 draw against Club Nacional Asunción on April 30, 2014.  Asad recorded his first professional goal for Velez Sarsfield during a 2-0 victory over Club Atlético Aldosivi on February 13, 2015.  His first assist for the club came in his next match against Club Mutual Crucero del Norte as he helped his side to a 2-1 victory on February 22, 2015.  During his first sting with his boyhood club, Asad scored four goals and recorded five assists in 55 appearances.  After finishing the 2018 season with D.C. United, Asad returned to Velez Sarsfield but failed to make an impact as he only made one appearance before being released.

September 7, 2019: Signed as a free-agent for the 2020 season.
