Löwen has featured for both the German youth international and Olympic national squads. The midfielder made his first appearance on the German youth international stage for the Under-20 team during the U-20 Elite League. He started and played all 90 minutes for matches against U-20 Netherlands and U-20 Switzerland, including his first career international goal in the 2-1 win over U-20 Switzerland.
Löwen quickly rose to the Under-21 Germany team where he featured seven times, five of which were during the UEFA European U-21 Championship Qualifying matches. He tallied a goal in five starts and 330 minutes of play during the qualifying matches and also appeared in two international friendlies. Following successful stints at the U-20 and U-21 squads, Löwen was called in for the German Olympic National team. He appeared in all three matches, tallying a goal and two starts in 156 minutes played.
For club, Löwen made his senior team debut at 20 years old for 1.FC Nürnberg on March 12, 2017, in a 1-0 win against Arminia Bielefeld. He amassed eight goals and 10 assists for FC Nürnberg during a two-season stint. Löwen was then acquired by Hertha BSC on July 1, 2019 and appeared 14 times over a two-season span, while also being loaned out to FC Augsburg (Jan. 5, 2020 – Oct. 5, 2020) and VfL Bochum (July 1, 2021 – June 30, 2022). Before coming to St. Louis, he strung together three goals and four assists for VfL Bochum in 28 matches played.
