2022: After penning a new deal to 2023 with the option of further years, Barraza enjoyed his most memorable season yet, helping the Club to Campeones Cup success. Gaining more minutes in US Open Cup action, including a clean sheet against New England Revolution, he continued to learn from USMNT star Sean Johnson throughout the campaign, and was given his chance to shine in September’s showpiece Final, where he kept a memorable shut-out against Atlas F.C to clinch our second piece of major silverware.Â
2021: Barraza built on his debut in 2020 with several first team appearances in the absence of Sean Johnson. That run allowed him to record the first win, clean sheet, and surprisingly assist of his professional career.
2020:Â The New-Mexico native celebrated his competitive debut for the club in the CONCACAF Champions League against Tigres in December.
2019: Luis Barraza was taken as the 12th overall pick in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft first round selection and was then signed to his first professional contract with the Club. Barraza is still awaiting his pro debut for NYCFC but is learning every day on the training field alongside Sean Johnson and Brad Stuver.
2018: Luis recently graduated after four years at Marquette University where he claimed the Big East Conference Goalkeeper of the Year award in 2018 and was also named to the First Team All-Big East Conference.
Earlier in his youth career, Barraza was part of the academy setup at Real Salt Lake-Arizona where he won the U-15/U-16 USSDA Championships in 2013, also finishing as a runner-up in 2015.
HOW ACQUIRED: Drafted with the 12th overall pick in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft (pick acquired from LA Galaxy for 19th pick in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft and $75,000 General Allocation Money)
