JoaquĆn Pereyra joined Minnesota United from Club AtlĆ©tico TucumĆ”n, where he spent three years with the club after joining in 2021. Pereyra made 117 appearances, scored four goals, and provided 14 assists during his time with AtlĆ©tico TucumĆ”n. Pereyra signed a three-and-a-half-year Designated Player contract, with a club option for 2028 during the secondary transfer window of 2024.
The Argentinian midfielder began his career with Rosario Centralās academy, where he made his senior team debut as a substitute in 2016. Pereyra spent five seasons with the club, playing in 60 games across all competitions, scoring two goals, and recording one assist. He was also a part of the squad that won the 2017-2018 Copa Argentina that qualified Rosario Central for the 2018 Copa Sudamericana and 2019 Copa Libertadores. Pereyra made two appearances in the Copa Sudamericana in 2018 and four appearances in the Copa Libertadores, where he notably scored the opening goal during a group stage game in 2019.
Pereyra went on loan twice during his time with Rosario Central, one time with FC FamalicĆ£o from 2020-21 and Club AtlĆ©tico TucumĆ”n from 2021-22. Internationally, Pereyra spent time with the Argentine U20 National Team, making two game appearances as a substitute. Scoring one goal on the international stage during a friendly against Japanās U19 squad in 2016, providing one of two goals in their 2-1 victory.
As a summer transfer, Pereyra made his MLS and MNUFC debut starting as a central midfielder against Louis CITY SC on September 14. He continued to showcase his playmaking skills throughout the rest of the regular season, where he started every match for the remainder of the regular season. Pereyra provided his very first MLS and MNUFC assist against Colorado, supporting Minnesota United in their 3-0 road victory on September 28. The Argentinian midfielder was one of eight MNUFC players who made their MLS Playoff debut in the Loonsā 2024 postseason run.
